Nursing facility behavioral Health: Substance use disorders

Purpose: Develop more knowledgeable, skilled and confident nursing facility staff who are better equipped to deliver person-centered care to residents living with substance use disorder

Audience: Staff in skilled nursing facilities and ICF in Oregon will be given priority, however, staff in community-based care settings are welcome to apply if space is available. Team members could include the following: facility administrator, nurses, social services, life enrichment, and direct service staff members, such as CNAs

Sample topics: Intersection of serious persistent mental illness and SUD in older adults; Intersection of neurocognitive disorders and SUD in older adults; Medications to manage SUD in long-term care; Person-centered language and care planning for nursing facilities related to SUD

Schedule: 6 sessions. Second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m, Pacific Time, January 14 - March 25, 2025
