Implementing Pharmacologic Weight Management in Primary Care

Purpose: Building the capacity of primary care clinicians and their team members to provide evidence-based comprehensive care of their eligible patients living with complicated overweight and obesity. This includes education about weight loss efficacy from lifestyle interventions and, when not sufficient, initiating anti-obesity medications, counseling for metabolic-bariatric surgery, referring to subspecialty care for co -management of complicated comorbid conditions, and education around reducing bias and stigma in overweight and obesity

Audience: Primary care clinicians, dieticians, nurses, pharmacists, behavioral health specialists, and other care team members

Sample topics: Anti-obesity medications; Diet and lifestyle recommendations; Patient conversations, including navigating stigma and bias; Metabolic bariatric surgery & endobariatrics

Schedule: 8 sessions. Wednesdays, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. PT, January 8 - February 26, 2025
